KC’s Tasties Meets Ellie’s Cupcakes
Moist, soft and fluffy. That is what makes a cupcake a good cupcake. Today I was in Tynemouth, near Newcastle, and we visited a village flea market. Right as we walked in, I saw a stand displaying these very attractive cupcakes. When we asked the lady behind the counter the name of the cupcake business, she responded, “This is my friend’s shop and it’s called Ellie’s Cupcake Shop.”
After exploring Tynemouth, and spending some time in a coffee shop to use the wifi, we returned to Ellie’s Cupcake Shop and purchased four cupcakes. After we were safely back on the ship we ate the cupcakes. I had the mint chocolate one and it was absolutely delicious! The base of the cupcake was simple – just plain chocolate. For the frosting, I think it was mint or peppermint frosting with green food coloring. On top of that, the cupcake was garnished with a small piece of really good chocolate that I had never had before. We also had a peanut butter cupcake. It was a vanilla cake with peanut butter filling. The frosting looked like it was peanut butter frosting, with a mini Reese’s Pieces peanut butter cop decorating the top.
I must not have been the only one who thought these cupcakes were spectacular. When we first discovered the stand in the morning, the shelves were full. By the time we returned a few hours later, almost everything was gone.
